Browser crumbs — what this site leaves in your browser

Cookies and similar storage mechanisms used by GloucesterWin — what each one does, its purpose, and how to manage or remove it.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file stored in your browser by a website you visit. Cookies serve legitimate purposes — keeping you logged in, remembering your preferences, measuring how pages perform — but UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, as updated) requires that non-essential cookies are set only with your consent.

GloucesterWin uses cookies in three categories: necessary, analytics, and attribution. You control analytics and attribution via the panel reachable from the footer of every page.

Necessary cookies — always active

These are set for functional reasons and do not require your consent:

Cookie / storage keyPurposeDuration
gloucesterwin-vou-age (sessionStorage)Records that the age gate has been confirmed for this browser sessionSession only (cleared on tab close)
gloucesterwin-vou_consent (localStorage)Stores your cookie preference choices so the panel does not appear on every page loadUntil you clear browser storage

Analytics cookies — optional, requires consent

When you accept analytics cookies, anonymised session data is sent to our analytics provider. This tells us which pages are visited, how long visitors stay, and which referrers send traffic. We use this to improve the site's editorial quality and to understand which racing topics are most useful to readers.

No personally identifying data is sent to the analytics provider under our configuration. Full IP addresses are masked. We do not create profiles or use analytics data for advertising.

Attribution cookies — optional, requires consent

When you click a sponsored link (a "Visit [Operator]" button), an attribution token is generated and shared with the affiliate network through which we track referrals. This lets the network credit a sign-up commission to this site when you open an account. Attribution cookies last up to 30 days from the click.

Attribution data is not used to target you with advertising and is not shared with third parties beyond the affiliate network.

Third-party scripts

GloucesterWin loads the following external scripts:

  • Google Fonts — loads the Nunito typeface. Google may set a session-level cookie. No personal data is shared with Google via this integration beyond your IP address in the font-file request. This is strictly functional.

No social-media share buttons, embedded video players, or chat widgets are present on this site. We do not load advertising scripts.

Managing cookies in your browser

To delete all cookies set by this site, clear your browser's cookies and site data for this domain. Instructions vary by browser:

  • Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Clear browsing data → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Clear Data
  • Safari — Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data → Remove
  • Edge — Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Choose what to clear

Note that clearing cookies will reset your age gate confirmation, consent preferences, and any other session state. You will be prompted on your next visit.

Opt out at any time

Open the cookie preferences panel via the "Cookie settings" link in every page footer to review and change your choices. Changes take effect immediately.
